Stokes Croft restaurant suddenly closes
A Bristol restaurant that counted Sunday Times restaurant critic Marina O’Loughlin as one of its biggest supporters has unexpectedly closed.
Jamaica Street Stores just off Stokes Croft has a sign in its window saying that it is “now closed until further notice”.
Jamaica Street Stores was opened in September 2017 by an experienced team with previous in River Cottage Cafe, Bagel Boy, The Ethicurean and CUPP Bubble Tea.

Jamaica Street Stores occupied a prime building just off Stokes Croft
Located in a former screenprinting works on the ground floor of Jamaica Street Studios, O’Loughlin named it one of the best 100 places to eat out in the UK last year.
She wrote: “There are more ambitious restaurants in Bristol (Bellita, Wilson’s and Bell’s Diner were all close to making the cut), but my heart belongs to this rackety beauty.”
The sign on the window of the restaurant reads: “We’re sorry to say that Jamaica Street Stores is now closed until further notice. We would like to thank our customers for their continued support over the last two years and sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
