The Pony Chew Valley to appear on Tom Kerridge BBC hospitality programme
Recently reopened and revamped, The Pony Chew Valley, a Somerset restaurant owned by former Michelin star chef Josh Eggleton and his sister, Holly, is set to make waves in more ways than one. Not only has the restaurant been transformed after a near three-year renovation, but it is also slated for a feature in an episode of the new BBC series, The Hidden World of Hospitality with Tom Kerridge. This special episode is set to air on BBC Two at 8pm on Thursday August 17.
The show, hosted by renowned chef Tom Kerridge, promises viewers an intimate look into the often-unseen trials, tribulations, and triumphs of the hospitality industry over its eight-episode run. In the episode featuring The Pony, Josh and Holly walk Kerridge through the final stages of their recent venue overhaul, providing insights into the evolution of their business and their vision for its future.

After a successful crowdfunding campaign, The Pony Chew Valley emerged from its extensive renovations as a renewed culinary destination in the Chew Valley area. Central to its rebirth is a devotion to locally sourced ingredients and an evolving seasonal menu, reflecting the Eggletons’ commitment to sustainability and food education. In line with this ethos, the new establishment features a kitchen garden supplying fresh produce for its dishes and an on-site cookery school, offering classes ranging from “Knife Skills with Josh Eggleton” to “Cooking Root Classics with Rob Howell.”
is needed now More than ever
Seventeen years after they first took ownership, Josh and Holly are delighted to continue sharing their passion for food and hospitality with the Chew Valley community and beyond—a commitment increasingly vital to both them and the broader industry.
Josh Eggleton, who remains a vibrant voice in the hospitality discourse, expressed the essence of their mission: “Our main job in hospitality is to make people feel welcome and, from the moment they arrive, to take their worries away,” he said. “Transparency is key to the future of hospitality. Be honest and do honest work within your business, and this can only radiate out into our local communities, something that is essential for independent hospitality going forward.”
Catch The Hidden World of Hospitality with Tom Kerridge starting on Thursday 27th July, with The Pony Chew Valley’s appearance in Episode 4 on Thursday 17th August at 8 pm on BBC Two.
