Two Bristol bakeries join forces in tasty new collaboration
Collaborations have long flourished in Bristol’s food and drink scene, from burgers to beer, pizza to pasta.
The latest joining of forces is between two popular bakeries, with Anna Cake Couture and Pinkmans now making their delicious creations out of the same production kitchen in an industrial estate in St Philip’s.
A new Pinkmans cafe has been created in what only a few weeks ago was the bike store at Anna’s on Barton Manor, with the two teams now also baking side by side separated by just a pane of glass.

The eponymous Anna Bearne of Anna’s has offered this space to Pinkmans following a serious fire at Pinkmans’ bakery on Park Street in June.
It means that the Pinkmans team once again have the space to bake goods including their famous doughnuts which are now available here, at their cafe on Gloucester Road and the newly opened Pinkmans De Noche on Whiteladies Road.

On a recent visit to the new cafe, open seven days a week, doughnuts and focaccia sandwiches from Pinkmans were on the counter alongside cookies and macarons from Anna’s.
The two businesses may both be bakeries but they are very much complementary in their offerings, with their bakers able to be seen from the cafe.
“I’m so chuffed to now have Pinkmans here with us,” said Anna, who opened her first cafe and bakery on Boyce’s Avenue in Clifton Village in 2015 and now has a second premises in Newport Market.
“It’s amazing and they have really brought life to our kitchen. I would say that it’s a pretty great collaboration, with our businesses fitting so well in line together without treading on each other’s toes.”

Pinkmans owner Eddie Perez praised the “good heart” of Anna and her team for inviting them to share their production unit “and give us a chance to survive after the fire”.
“We are feeling great and now looking forward to opening more sites as well as working together with Anna, keeping on plastering Bristol with good Yallah coffee and loads of doughnuts and cookies!
“People can come in here, have a coffee, a cookie, a macaron, a good sandwich, a loaf of bread, see what is happening and then go home very happy.”
