Two new investors get behind Bristol Beer Factory

By Jack Bray  Thursday Aug 3, 2017

Bristol Beer Factory have attracted two new major investors, in the form of Michelin starred chef Josh Eggleton, of The Pony & Trap, Salt & Malt and Eat Drink Bristol Fashion, and Guy Newell, co-owner of Butcombe Brewery with wife Becky.

Eggleton and the Newells have previous experience working together, having taken over popular Redland pub The Kensington Arms in October 2016.

The investors join at an exciting time for the independent brewery, with the opening of The Tap Room on North Street in May 2017, a new Bristol Beer Club membership scheme and the recent launch of 4 per cent cask ale Fortitude.

Simon Bartlett is the joint founder of Bristol Beer Factory, alongside former mayor of Bristol, George Ferguson. On the subject of the new investors, Bartlett said: “I have had great respect for Guy and Josh for many years and to have them as part of our forward-thinking creative team is better than we could have hoped for”.

Guy and Becky Newell commented: “It is a very exciting time for the city of Bristol, and indeed for Bristol Beer Factory. We are thrilled to be involved”.

The addition of the new investors sets up a formidable team for the award-winning and fiercely independent North Street brewers.
