World’s largest negroni to be made for street party
If Bristol were to have an official cocktail, one to be consumed at civic occasions and form part of the city’s crest, it would probably be a negroni.
Made from one part gin, one part vermouth and one part Campari, it’s already possible to buy bottles of the pre-mixed cocktail to enjoy at home from bars and shops across Bristol.
Big is not necessarily always better, but our love for negroni is being taken several steps further with plans for a record-breaking drink.
is needed now More than ever
A bar and restaurant on Cotham Hill and a distillery in St Nick’s Market are joining forces for the ambitious record attempt.
Rock Salt and Bristol Dry Gin hope to make 600 litres of negroni that will be on sale during the Cotham Hill Street Party on May 22, hopefully beating the record of a 504-litre negroni made in Arizona in 2018.
The (hopefully) record-breaking drink will be raising funds for StreetSmart, a charity that supports homeless people in Bristol and other major UK cities.

Ed Sargent from Rock Salt loves negronis so much that he even has a negroni tattoo.
He said: “This is an excuse to have a bit of much needed fun at the street party and raise money for a charity that we are all absolutely committed to helping.”
StreetSmart director Glenn Pougnet added: “The city of Bristol has such a great independent spirit and its restaurants have been great supporters of StreetSmart and our work for over ten years now.
“Only one of our Bristol partner restaurants could come up with an idea like this, we salute Ed and Ben for their ingenuity and wish them well with the record breaking attempt.”
