Bar of the Week: Filthy Thirteen
Tucked away on Cheltenham Road by the arches, Filthy Thirteen is a cocktail bar that is already winning a great reputation for such a new bar.
The sister bar of Her Majesty’s Secret Service on Whiteladies Road, having a cocktail at Filthy Thirteen also feels like being let into a secret club; it seems as though not everyone has realised what a diamond it is yet.
The bar itself is a rainbow of different spirits and mixers. The lights are low and mysterious, and neon signs shine through the seating area, adding bright light to the otherwise low-lit seating area.
is needed now More than ever
Ordering a Curbside Collins and taking a seat on a bar stool, one first-time visitor the other night watched the mixologist combine Bombay Sapphire gin, honey from Redland, and dandelion, violet and nettle tonic.
Reminiscent of the Tom Collins classic, the bar’s Facebook page describes it as “a drink reminiscent of an English garden but truer to today – how many of us even have a garden, let alone one adorned with cucumbers and elderflower?”
Filthy Thirteen is definitely a bar unafraid to do things differently and try new ways to make the best cocktails.
As well as shaking it up with unique takes on classic drinks, Friday, April 5 sees the launch of Whitehall distillery Circumstance‘s new spirit, Circumstantial Cane, the first ever rum to be fermented and distilled in Bristol.
Filthy Thirteen are celebrating its launch with a Daquiri Fest, making the legendary cocktails using Circumstantial Cane, adding yet another different spin to their cocktails.
Finishing the Curbside Collins and with the bar becoming busy with cocktail fans wanting after work drinks, the first-time visitor ordered another, not wanting to leave the buzz of this new bar.
