Volunteer Tavern to take over Hope & Anchor
The Hope & Anchor on Jacob’s Wells Road will soon be getting a new lease of life from the team behind The Volunteer Tavern in St Jude’s.
Since opening in 2011, the Voly has built up an enviable reputation – in particular for its home-cooked pub food, which the Hope & Anchor were once also known for, even being a runner-up in the Observer Food Monthly Awards best Sunday lunch category in 2010.
Voly landlord Pete Gibbs, who used to work at the Hope & Anchor as a glass collector, promises to improve the pub and revitalise its kitchen.
is needed now More than ever
Bristol Beer Factory’s award-winning Milk Stout will be constantly on keg, alongside lots of other craft beers.
The Voly team are currently refurbishing the pub and its verdant beer garden, which will reopen on January 24.
