Lidl opens in Bristol city centre
It was originally a cinema, then a Mothercare and most recently H&M.
The former grand foyer of the Odeon has now become a Lidl supermarket, with queues stretching out of the door on its first day of opening on Thursday.
Lidl opened at 7am with the bakery section proving a particular favourite for shoppers.
is needed now More than ever
Bosses at the German-owned brand say that rather than people driving outside the city centre to do their shopping they can now visit Lidl on foot where they find cheaper goods on the shelves than the “convenience prices” at the number of Tesco, Sainsbury’s and Co-Op stores in BS1.
Original contractors Hartry Global went into liquidation midway through the Lidl being fitted out on the corner of Union Street and Nelson Street.
