Chai Cycle

By Martin Booth  Sunday Nov 30, 2014

In an unexpected food and drink trend this year, chai wallahs have taken to the streets of Bristol.

First there was Indiana Joe Baba setting up shop on the footpath over the M32 roundabout in Easton. Then there came Bristol Chai Guy, cycling to locations such as Castle Park and Temple Quay.

Also serving drinks from a converted tricycle is the latest addition to the scene, Chai Cycle, whose arrival is heralded by flags fluttering from the front of the bike.

You can find Paul Saville right at the end of Stokes Croft next to the Bearpit roundabout near the Holiday Inn.

Saville now serves chai from the same vehicle as he sells ice cream during the warmer months.

The choice is currently a simple one: either chai or honey, lemon and ginger, both for £1.50, and both wonderfully warming.

In Chai Cycle, this unusual trend may well have a new leader.
