It could be another wet, blustery week off with the kids but fear not, Bristol24/7 has compiled a list of things to do and places to go over half term.

Global Traveller Trail
Based on real people who travelled on board the ship, the SS Great Britain’s Global Traveller Trail is a hands-on way of exploring their stories and the ship’s history. Collect a trail map on arrival to start solving the clues.
The trail is recommended for families with children aged five plus. The trail is part of a season of programming that explores the concept of “Opening Up History”, highlighting the rarely shared aspects of the SS Great Britain’s story.

Dear Zoo
For fans of the much-loved lift the flap book by Rod Campbell, Redgrave Theatre is putting on a production of Dear Zoo, a tale of two friends trying to find the perfect pet, and exploring the many animals of the zoo in the process.
With lots of songs, puppets and audience interaction, Dear Zoo promises to be great fun for children of all ages, but is especially recommended for those aged two and up.

Children’s Italian Cookery Class
Does your child fancy themselves as the next world-class, Michelin star chef? If so, the Little Kitchen Cookery School in Totterdown is giving them the opportunity to showcase their culinary prowess this half term, and maybe even learn a thing or two.
The ticket price includes everything you will need: Equipment, ingredients, an apron, and even your own recipe cards.

This Can Change
Last year in the run-up to COP26, We The Curious asked Bristol’s young people to photograph the Bristol they saw around them. The 130 images in the resulting exhibition, ‘This Can Change’, express frustration at the careless way we treat our world and the joy that is to be found in places where nature continues to thrive.
You can see the exhibition in the Box gallery as part of your visit to We The Curious until March 13.

Woodland Tales With Granddad
From the acclaimed Pickled Image studios comes a beautiful puppet show with an underlying environmental message. The woodland is in grave danger – can Granddad and his team of animal friends save it, before it’s too late?
Although aimed at children aged three to eight, anyone with an interest in puppetry will surely find this production enchanting.

Wild Place Project
There’s so much happening this half term at Wild Place Project Bristol. Who’d have thought that in Bristol you’d be able to see giraffes, lemurs and baboons all within a few hundred yards of each other?

Cartoon Circus Live
Fancy a trip to the circus this half term? Look no further than Hanham Community Centre, as they’ll be hosting the Cartoon Circus, a stage show that “combines the comedy of the pantomime with the thrill of the circus.” There’s everything from clowns to a giant dancing polar bear.

Robin Hood Pantomime
A modern take on the classic pantomime – the evil Sheriff of Nottingham is trying to turn the forest into a golf course – can Maid Marion acquire the help of Robin and his band of outlaws to save the forest in time?
Classic British pantomime, of course, plenty of audience interaction, and good value tickets.

Bristol Zoo Gardens
This half term, Bristol Zoo Gardens are celebrating their “conservation heroes” – people who work at the zoo and play an integral role in saving wildlife “both in the country and across the world.”
They will be displayed on life-size boards around the site over the course of the week, and there will even be a fun quiz about them that can be filled in as families walk around the zoo and encounter the boards.

Let Toddlers Play
At Play In The Woods are hosting a free-flowing play session at their privately owned area of woodland in Chelvey this Friday. People will be able to roam the woods freely, exploring the many activities and things to do that have been set up, such as the rope swing or the mud kitchen, along with just generally wandering the wilderness.
The session is two hours, and people are encouraged to bring a snack and drink.
