Preview: Bristol Shakespeare Festival 2018
A typically packed programme - indoor and out, Bard and Bard-inspired
Summer is here, and with it comes a plethora of brilliant things to do in our fair city. We’re well into festival season, with the very welcome return of St Paul’s Carnival bringing that sound system spirit back to the streets, for the first time since 2014, on July 7. There are 52 other festivals happening locally, nationally and internationally throughout the month too.
It’s Pride Month, which means a great programme of events all month long, kicking off with poetry night Rainbow Milk on July 1 and culminating in the UK’s biggest free Pride day with its parade through the city centre. Talking LGBT+ Bristol, a film created in partnership with Bristol24/7 and Tusko Films, will be screened as part of the Pride celebrations.
And sticking to the theme of films, Cinema Rediscovered comes to various cinemas and venues around the city, offering up a wonderful programme of old favourites, undervalued classics and remastered gems.
