This weekend, make a date with the cinema to catch Aardman’s latest and most ambitious film in their 40-year history – Early Man. Voiced by some massive stars, including Game of Thrones regular and local gal Maisie Williams, it promises back-to-back laughs for the whole family.
Sticking with the film theme, the Slapstick Festival kicks off in style on Friday night at Colston Hall. The opening Comedy Gala will be hosted by Tim Vine, and marks the start of a packed programme of 25 events over the weekend.
Music legend David Rodigan will be celebrating 40 years of music at Motion on Friday night, while, at the other end of the age spectrum, some of Bristol’s brightest young spoken word talents will participate in the Young Blah Showcase on Sunday at The Room Above on St Michael’s Hill.
Finally, if your resolution was to be healthier this January but you’ve fallen off the wagon a few short weeks in, there’s a Yoga Brunch taking place at The Forge on Sunday. Take the relaxed beginners-friendly yoga class, and then share a healthy meal together, cooked up by the team at Tsukemono.
