14 things to do in Bristol this weekend – March 2-4 2018

It’s not often there’s snow on the ground for the first weekend of March, so if you’re the adventurous type, there will be nothing better to do than to dust off the sledge, dig out the skis or maybe construct an igloo in the park. Read our tips on the best places to enjoy the wintery weather, followed by the best pubs to warm up in afterwards to make sure no one gets frostbite. And be careful out there, folks.

If being indoors is more your thing, and you can get to some of these places safely, then keep occupied with some brilliant gigs, theatre performances and event cinema. On Friday night, Macbeth opens at the Tobacco Factory, launching the inaugural Factory Company season with Katie Stephens putting in a sterling performance as Lady Macbeth.

On Saturday, get some warmth in your belly with sherry tasting at Psychopomp, as part of their regular Distiller’s Table events. Then on Sunday at Bambalan, chefs turn the tables on some of Bristol’s best-known restaurant critics, asking them to cook a course to raise money for Action For Hunger.

Finally, there’s no better place than a warm cinema or theatre to warm your cockles in when the wind is howling outside. Catch top satirist Andy Zaltzman at the Tobacco Factory, or a one-off screening of Don’t Look Now at Watershed, both on Sunday.
