12 things to do in Bristol this weekend, May 18-20 2018

This weekend, there are plenty of things to do if you’re not planning to camp in with the curtains shut and watch the royal wedding. Ashton Court Mansion opens to the public with an alternative royal wedding theme-event, while at the other end of the spectrum, Dr Dre’s seminal album 2001 gets an orchestral rework that must be heard to be believed.

On Saturday, enjoy a film night at Palestine Museum & Cultural Centre with a 6pm pay-as-you-feel screening of Chronicles of a Refugee: Nakba Dailies, followed by a Q&A with the director. Or keep it cultural and pop along to Bristol Music’s major new exhibition at M Shed, chronicling seven decades of sound in the city.

On Sunday, don’t miss either Cotham Hill Street Party or Chance & Counters’ takeover of The Christmas Steps pub to celebrate the birthday of the boardgaming bar.
