Belinda Carlisle heads to Bristol Pride
Bristol Pride Festival has announced a new concert for 2017, headlined by pop icon Belinda Carlisle. For this year, in recognition of Bristol’s growing Pride Festival, a Friday night concert has been organised to kick-off the weekend’s celebrations at the Harbourside.
Taking place in the Bristol Amphitheatre on July 7, Belinda Carlisle will be joined by Walking on Sunshine singer Katrina, of Katrina & The Waves, and electro-pop duo Avec Sans. Carlisle is the first artist to perform at the new Bristol Pride Presents fundraising event which will open the weekend of the Pride Festival. The main Pride 2017 event will take place the next day on July 8, also at the Amphitheatre and At-Bristol Millennium Square.

The Wardrobe Theatre will host a drag version of Edinburgh Festival favourites Murder She Didn’t Write, and their award-winning comedy night with Bethany Black, David Mills and Jayde Adams.
Bristol Pride is one of the largest Pride events in the UK and one of Bristol’s biggest festivals. Daryn Carter, festival director said: “Bristol Pride continues to grow year on year and last year we moved to our new home on the Harbourside to accommodate the record numbers now attending the festival. Sadly we’ve seen increasing incidents of hate crimes against the LGBT+ community in the last year and we hope to continue to develop Pride in order to raise awareness and tackle prejudice whilst offering exciting and engaging events to help us challenge hearts and minds”.
2017 marks thirty years since the release of Carlisle’s multi-platinum selling album, Heaven on Earth. As a long-time supporter of the LGBT+ community, the organisers are thrilled to welcome her to the city.
Tickets for Bristol Pride Presents: Belinda Carlisle are available online, with early bird tickets starting at £15.
