‘Camp apocalyptic’ queer performance rave platforms LGBTQ+ artists
An immersive performance rave aiming to give a platform for marginalised LGBTQ+ artists is coming to Lost Horizon on Thursday.
The Dwellings of 404 takes place within an imagined “camp apocalyptic”. Its creators describe it as an “immersive surreal narrative”, with performers luring the audience into a “world of the weird and wonderful”.
The performance team is made up of artists from a range of practices, from drag kings and drag things to puppeteering and physical theatre.
is needed now More than ever
Each artist embodies “a bizarre and captivating” character enticing the audiences to discover their pasts and storylines, 404 said.
“We are young creatives and performers who want to make space for those who are underrepresented within nightlife generally,” the team told Bristol24/7.

The Dwellings of 404 is a “queer-lead” team, prioritising women and trans artists and is collaborating with multi-media collective Below the Belt. 404 will be working with PHAT security, a queer and femme security collective.
The night will feature performances from funk psychedelic rock band Sweet Geranium as well as folk pop group The Freakshow.
Later in the night, Tyla X An will be performing heavy bass alternative pop in a set that will be integrated into the storyline of the night.
404 said they hope to “pioneer the way we look at night events as a whole, blurring the lines between art, theatre music and reality.”
“The surreal nature and narrative of 404 is curated to allow our audiences to let go, become fully immersed in a world which is beautifully strange and weird, and in so becoming a place where you can be beautifully strange and weird too.”
