In photos: Bristol Pride parade 2023
The Bristol Pride parade returned to the streets of the city on Saturday to kick off a day of LGBTQ+ protest and celebration.
The drizzly morning did not deter the crowds as thousands gathered in Castle Park for the annual parade.
By 10.45am, the sky had cleared and the procession took off, winding through Cabot Circus, Union Street, Baldwin Street and St Augustine’s Parade before coming to an end in Millennium Square.

From there, shuttle buses transported people to the Downs for the official Pride Day festival, which sees headliners the Scissor Sisters’ frontman Jake Shears and Natalie Imbruglia alongside 100 other acts across five stages.
The roots of Pride as a protest remained as important as ever, particularly following two separate attacks on the community in the last month. Last week attendees of the Trans Pride Annual Picnic were targeted by BB guns, while in June a Pride billboard was set alight.
