A Kickstarter campaign has been launched to support a new LGBTQ+ virtual reality documentary coming to Bristol in December 2019.

Voguing originated in New York in the 1980s. Created by queer people of colour and evolving out of the Harlem ballroom scene of the 1960s, the dance has become a global phenomenon that continues to evolve both stylistically and demographically.
This interactive virtual reality film seeks to celebrate the ballroom community that has been built in Bristol. It has been co-created by the ballroom community and uses 360° cameras, volumetric capture, voice-over and music to paint the portraits of the artists and depict their movements.

The documentary has been co-created with the city’s ballroom scene
Working closely with artists to platform Bristol’s Ballroom scene and the voguing talent within the community, a Kickstarter has been launched to push the project over the finish line.
The Kickstarter, which launched earlier in November, has already met 50 per cent of its £500 goal, but needs to raise another £250 to reach the goal by Thursday, November 28.
“This is such an exciting and important piece of work exploring ideas around safe spaces, empowerment and queer identity politics,” says Gimme One’s creative producer, Harry Silverlock.
“The team and artists are working super hard and we’re looking forward to celebrating the ballroom and voguing communities on the December 12.”

The team will be working with Leon Trimble, a renowned Bristol-based digital artist who works in audio visual performance to screen Gimme One on to a 360 degree projection dome in the city as part of the UWE Virtual Reality MA Showcase.
The film will be played back to back all day with the final screening of the film will be a ticketed event on the evening of the Thursday, December 12, with an after-screening Q&A, celebration and an opportunity to meet the artists.
