New monthly drag show launches with all-day extravaganza
Seven queens will stand before the crowd on Sunday, May 16.
Hosted by Alyssa Van Delle with Delirium, Poppycock, Brenda Le Beau, Cara Melle, Honey Foxx and Jolene Dover, Dare to Drag will be a glitter, sequins and escapism.
The first in a new monthly series held at Dare to Club in St Philip’s, Dare to Drag will be an all-day extravaganza, running from 1pm to 7pm.
is needed now More than ever
“We aim to take you away from the problems of the world for however long you stay with us,” says Alyssa.
“I feel people see courage and confidence in us drag performers and at a time like this, they’re two things that everyone needs.
“We’re also figures of entertainment and escapism, another thing we all need right now!”

The event will be social distanced and held in a heated marquee. A drink will be included in the ticket price and D2 Bear Food will be serving refreshments.
Remy Melee and Tryad will also be performing during the day.
While Alyssa, a Bristol-based queen, says that the past year has been difficult, drag artists are “more determined to come back stronger than ever and never take a minute on a stage for granted again”.
“Drag has changed so much this past year! I have had the occasional online gig but have found it difficult, I much prefer being on stage with a live audience,” adds Honey, who has more than 6,000 followers on Instagram.
“I’m so excited to come to Bristol. Having a live audience in front of you is such a rush.
“This event will bring you campy, fierce fun and the best drag has to offer!”

Bristol band Tryad will be performing at the event alongside the drag queens.
“I think for many people it will be somewhat of a collective sigh of relief since the last lockdown,” says band member Riccardo Vietti.
“It will be cool to share the stage and be part of the show, it’s our first appearance in a drag show so we’re excited.
“We all know not to take this occasion for granted so we expect everyone to bring their A game.”
The event will be for people of all ages, with drag queens from Bristol and beyond taking to the stage. Alyssa hopes it will also open up drag to those outside the LGBTQ+ community and that it will be an event all ages can enjoy.
In the words of Honey: “Buckle up, it’s going to be one hell of a night!”
