Cycle Sunday returns to the Downs

By Josh Dyer  Thursday Jul 9, 2015

Roads in and around the Downs will be closed to cars for part of this weekend as Cycle Sunday returns to Bristol for the second time this year.

Cycle Sunday is a morning event that allows people of all ages a safe ride around the Downs.

Circular Road from Ivywell Road to Ladies Mile will be closed to motor traffic on Sunday from 8am until1 pm for children and adults to brush off the cobwebs and practice their bike riding skills.

The first family-friendly cycling event in April was a success with over 2,500 people turning up to the morning long ride.

Cycle Sunday aim to help young children gain confidence and feel comfortable in using sustainable forms of transport on the road, supporting Bristol City Council’s ambition for the next generation to use more environmentally friendly methods of transport.
