Adoption event to encourage LGBT parents

By James Higgins  Monday Oct 23, 2017

CCS Adoption is running a drop-in adoption event to inspire potential future LGBT adopters.

The event is. organised by the Oftsed ‘outstanding’ rated CCS Adoption. It will give potential parents the chance to find out more, meet the local LGBT adoption network, and the children who need adoptive families.

In England, 1 in 10 of all adoptions are by LGBT couples. Last year, 2 in 10 of new adopters approved by CCS were LGBT couples. Working with parents across Bristol, South Gloucestershire, and North Somerset, CCS Adoption provide support throughout the adoption process and lifelong support after.

Attendees will also get a chance to meet current LGBT parents and hear about their experiences. CCS Adoption provide training, and the event offers the chance for potential parents to find out more about the support available and the next steps.

Adoption adviser and gay adoptive Frances Barker says, “I adopted two children with my partner, and we didn’t experience our sexuality as being a barrier to us adopting. Deciding to adopt has been the best decision we’ve ever made. We experience the same wonderful moments and tricky times as any parents”.

“At CCS Adoption we value the experiences and knowledge that many LGBT people bring to adoption, and we welcome LGBT people considering adoption to get in touch,” Frances continued.

The drop-in event will take place on 162 Pennywell Road on November 4 from 10 am. Find out more details and book a space via the CCS Adoption website.

While everyone is welcome, CCS Adoption ask attendees phone ahead, if possible, on 0117 935 0005.
