Bristol Playday returns for 2019
On Wednesday, August 7, children aged four to 12 are invited to spend an afternoon in Castle Park, building dens and playing sports and games for the 17th Bristol Playday.
Families are welcome to come along with a picnic and take part in the free event, where all children will have access to a hang-out den and can take part in a range of activities. There is pushchair and wheelchair access and there will be toilet facilities located nearby in The Galleries as well.
Bristol Playday will return a year on from the signing of the Bristol Children’s Charter. The event also supports the wider National Playday, which celebrates its 32nd birthday in 2019.

The Playday will run from from midday to 3.30pm and will celebrate children’s freedom to play. “Playday is a perfect way to bring people together to mark the importance of play with a day of fun and activities.
“I encourage everyone with young children to head on down to Castle Park for an exciting afternoon of play and celebration,” says Helen Godwin, cabinet member with responsibility for women, children and families.
This year’s Playday also celebrates one year since it celebrates over 95 organisations committing to the pledges of the Bristol Children’s charter.
The Charter, a set of ten pledges that align with the principles of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, sets out the city’s aspirations for all children, without discrimination.
