BS3’s Play in a Day returns: cast and crew wanted

By Steve Wright  Wednesday Oct 25, 2017

South Bristol’s Acting Out and Launchpad are joining forces once again to produce their third Christmas Play in a Day. Children and adults are invited to join them for a one-day workshop on Saturday, December 16, to produce a brand new pantomime: Aladdin BS3.

The workshop and performance will take place at the Stackpool Playhouse (St Thomas Mar Thoma Church), Stackpool Rd, Southville. During the workshop (10am-4.30pm) the cast and crew will be rehearsing and creating props, scenery and costumes ready for the evening production.  Adults and children are all welcome and can choose whether to be involved in the acting, craft or both. The Southville Centre’s Monday Club for older people will be helping to make some of the props and the nursery will be recording some of the songs.

The performance itself will take place 6.30pm and is open to all. Tickets (£5 adults / £3.50 children) can be purchased from the Southville Centre.  All profits from the pantomime tickets will be split equally between the Monday Club and St Thomas Mar Thoma Church.

Last year’s Play in a Day (pictured) featured a cast of more than 50 – and Acting Out and Launchpad are hoping for an even bigger cast this time around. Local professional actor Chris Yapp will once again be joining the team to help narrate, direct and produce the play.

The workshop will cost £22 for children and over 18s are free. For more info and to book a place, email enquiries@actingoutdrama.com or visit www.actingoutdrama.com
