Discover the magic of Bath this Christmas

By Bristol24/7  Monday Nov 11, 2019

There really is no better place to enjoy the most wonderful time of the year than Bath. As the city sparkles with twinkling lights, delightful aromas of mulled wine and roasted chestnuts fill the air and choirs sing carols by candlelight, soak up the sights and sounds of Bath at Christmas.

There are plenty of ways to make the most of the festive season in Bath – get your Christmas shopping wrapped up at the award-winning Bath Christmas Market, have a twirl around the ice rink at Bath on Ice, or catch a traditional pantomime at Theatre Royal Bath.

From 28th November to 15th December, over 150 twinkling chalets will be spread out across Bath’s picturesque Georgian streets for Bath Christmas Market. The very best craft makers and designers from the South West will be showcasing their high-quality artisan gifts, so you’re guaranteed to find something special for your loved ones. You’ll also find a range of tasty freshly prepared food, including delicious burgers, fish and chips, caramelised nuts and comforting hot drinks, and this year, there is also a new dedicated vegan food chalet.

Make your trip to the Market even more special with a Bath Christmas Market Experience package. Try your hand at wreath-making, indulge in a two-course Champagne lunch, shop till you drop at Bath Christmas Market and rejuvenate with a spa session at Thermae Bath Spa.

When you’ve finished your Christmas shopping, pop along to the Luxury Gift Wrapping Station in Union Street where expert wrappers will turn your purchases into beautiful gifts. The service is free, with a suggested donation to local charity Julian House.

Go for a skate or play a few rounds of glow golf at Bath on Ice, before treating yourself to wood-fired pizza and a mug of indulgent hot chocolate at Moguls Alpine Bar.

Rest weary feet and tuck into authentic Alpine appetisers at Abbey Hotel Bath’s snow-topped Après-Ski Bar, or step into the cosy Christmas Tavern at The Bird, Bath, and enjoy festive treats by the fire.

Be swept up in the excitement of this year’s pantomime, Beauty and the Beast, at Theatre Royal Bath. Help save Christmas at Father Christmas’s Workshop, an immersive experience for all the family at Milsom Place.  And take a whirl on the enchanting Victorian Carousel in Stall Street from 19th to 29th December.

Embrace the spirit of Christmas and pay a festive visit to Bath. Plan your trip at visitbath.co.uk/christmas.
