Five reasons why you need to see Bristol’s Evolution Drone Light Show this Christmas

By Bristol24/7  Thursday Oct 26, 2023

As the festive season swiftly approaches, one of the most magical ways to make the most of winter nights is with illumination walks, Christmas lights, and spectacularly bright events.

Make your festive season extra bright with Evolution Drone Light Show. Evolution is one of the biggest light shows to come to Bristol this December and is the perfect way to enjoy a winter night out with all the exciting trimmings of the festive season.

Held at Bristol’s Seat Unique Stadium near Bishopston, hundreds of drones will fly in unison to tell the story of our evolution in a narrated theatrical spectacular in the sky. This is the first time in the UK that drone light technology is being used to tell the greatest story of all time – it’s an entertaining and educational show in the sky that’s perfect for all ages.

Evolution is a massive family-friendly event with lots to enjoy as well as the show! Get fully immersed in the Evolution magic with a funfair and food village to explore before and after the show.

Want to know what’s in store for Evolution Drone Light Show? Check out these 5 reasons why it’s an unmissable event this December:

1. Where else will you see dinosaurs in the sky at Christmas?

Watch the Big Bang happen before your very eyes, see dinosaurs dance across the night sky from hundreds of illuminated drones flying in unison, and watch in awe as creatures both minuscule and mighty take over Bristol’s skyline.

As well as the narrated drone light show which is like a documentary of evolution made out of drones, enjoy a food village, music, and funfair rides. Get fully into the festivities before the show with doors opening 1.5 hours before the production, and some time to enjoy all the fun of the fair afterwards!

2. Family-friendly showings for those with early bedtimes

Take your pick of an early or late showing of Evolution Drone Light Show! Families (or those who like an earlier bedtime) can book an earlier family-friendly showing. Those who want to make a night of it or don’t have small children can book for the later showing.

3. It’s just a stone’s throw from the City Centre

Evolution Drone Light Show is being held at Seat Unique Stadium in Bishopston at the top of Gloucester Road. This isn’t far from Bristol centre and is easily accessible via public transport, and it means that you could enjoy a pre or post-show drink or meal at one of the amazing restaurants and bars on Gloucester Road!

4. It’s a pet-friendly alternative to a fireworks display

Fireworks are becoming increasingly less popular as we see the effects they have on wildlife and domesticated pets. The loud bangs can be disruptive and fireworks create litter and potential damage. Drone light shows are a wildlife (and pet) friendly alternative with more scope to create magical animations in the sky.

5. It’s an unforgettable and unusual way to celebrate the festive season

There are lots of Christmas lights and illuminations walks to enjoy this wintertime, but Evolution provides something very different to the usual festive lights. The show is narrated and explores the evolution of our existence with a beautiful soundtrack to accompany the show.

You’ll see the Big Bang, dinosaurs, and creatures from the microscopic to the mighty dance across the sky. The show is a truly magical experience that’s unlike any other light event happening in Bristol in December- and definitely not one to miss!

Get your tickets quick, they’re selling fast! Tickets for Evolution are flying out the door for both dates, with some showings almost sold out.
