Get your skates on at the At-Bristol ice rink
Whether you’re already feeling festive or in need of a little extra Christmas spirit, At-Bristol’s real-ice ice rink is the perfect thing to kickstart your yuletide. Head on down to Millennium Square for your chance to release your inner Torvill & Dean this winter.
Alongside regular skate sessions there will also be special night-time ‘Disco Boots’ every evening at 6, 7 and 8pm. Plus, youngsters can enjoy a skate all to themselves each weekend with ‘Little Boots’ sessions just for the under-eights (and their grown up as well of course!). To add to the seasonal cheer there will also be a chance to get your shopping all wrapped up as Millennium Square fills with gift-laden stalls from the Harbourside Christmas Market.
Returning for a third year, the city centre ice rink is open from now right through until Tuesday, January 5. Tickets are on sale now, and include sessions open to the general public, schools groups, evening discos and special under-eights sessions.
is needed now More than ever
Located in the heart of the Harbourside, the 450-square-metre ice rink will run underneath At-Bristol’s chrome-plated Planetarium building, with space for up to 150 skaters to show off their moves per session.
The Harbourside Christmas Market stalls will be on Millennium Square every weekend from November 28 featuring Bristol’s best artists, designer-makers, producers, collectors and creators, all selling ethically and sustainably sourced goodies. Plus, there will also be a live music stage in Anchor Square where visitors can choose a mulled treat from the Market bar, settle under a blanket on the deckchairs around the fire pits, and enjoy bands, singers and the resident market DJ, surrounded by specially commissioned décor.
Donna Speed, At-Bristol’s Commercial and Operations Director said: “After the popularity of the ice rink over the last two years, we’re delighted to see the return of the rink this winter. Having the ice rink here on Millennium Square is always a special time for us; it always brings a special feel to the Christmas atmosphere in the Harbourside, especially with the return of the Harbourside Markets, and with the special sessions including ‘Disco Boots’ and ‘Little Boots’, there really should be something for everyone! This year we’ll also be looking at ways to add a bit more of the sciencey fun that visitors experience inside At-Bristol, by bringing it outside to the ice rink with demonstrations, using the Big Screen, and a few other surprises!”
Tickets will cost £8.50 for adults, £7.50 for concessions and £6.50 for children, with reduced entry rates for group bookings (and 10% discount for online bookings).
Opening times vary, so please visit www.at-bristol.org.uk/icerink or call 0117 915 1000 (Monday to Friday, 9-5) for more information. The ice rink will be closed on Christmas Day.
Due to the recent Millennium Square car park fire it is still currently closed but alternative parking is available nearby, as well as lots of public transport options, visit at-bristol.org.uk/gettinghere for further information.
