Bristol’s first Sustainable Fashion Week confirms dates
After a few false starts thanks to the pandemic, Bristol’s Sustainable Fashion Week (SFW) has confirmed it will go ahead in autumn 2021.
Originally planned to take place in April 2020, it was postponed as the coronavirus pandemic swept across the world. There were then hopes for the event to take place at M Shed in spring 2021, but organisers have now settled on September 11 to 19 for the event.
Based in Bristol, it will also take place at popup spaces throughout the UK. The first sustainable fashion week held in the country, it will celebrate and promote slow fashion and demand change in the fast fashion industry.
is needed now More than ever
A group of volunteers, led by Amelia Twine of GIVE WEAR LOVE and Eat Drink Bristol Fashion, hope that conversations can be initiated around how everyone can all make a change and become more sustainable, while sharing skills to regenerate, re-craft and re-wear existing items of clothing.
The programme includes community-led events, workshops, skills learning, clothes swaps, panel discussions, a marketplace and repair cafe.

The SFW hub will be based in the Bristol M Shed, with mini events taking place across the city throughout the week.
The majority of the programme will centre around community engagement and organisers are encouraging interest people to get involved as they develop the events being planned.
“Sustainable Fashion Week is, at its core, about bringing people together to support and inspire each other,” says founder Amelia Twine.
“The industry needs to change dramatically and we want to celebrate the brilliant work already being done by so many people, and to activate more of the community to take a stand for fashion that is sustainable, equitable and representative.”
