Get the look: Student style
In a word, the Bristol student aesthetic is ‘nuanced’ – a curated wardrobe with outfits that look effortless but have secretly taken a lot of thought to put together.
However, don’t be daunted – the Bristol look is cool and relaxed with an edge. Like all students, we want to look good on a budget and feel confident in what we wear.
There are some core staples that make up a Bristol student’s wardrobe, which is heavily influenced by streetwear and mix and match basics, alongside other statement pieces.
is needed now More than ever
Vintage sweatshirts are a must.

The more oversized the better, in a variety of different colours. Ellesse or Nike branded jumpers will go down a treat, as will Americana-inspired styles showing a sport or ski club logo.
What to wear with your sweatshirt?
A trusty pair of flares, wide leg or jazzy print trousers will never let you down in Bristol.
They can be in denim or jersey and are more often than not sourced on Depop, with that distinct ‘rah where’s my baccy?!’ vibe to them.
Easy to style, a pair of trousers like this will work hard in your wardrobe and can be worn for both nights out and days around campus.
Your outfit is coming together, now onto footwear.
Chunky/dad trainers are an obvious choice, but don’t be afraid to style your outfits with some good Dr Martens style boots or big stompy loafers to give your looks some edge.

Bristol is a city jam-packed full of hills so comfy shoes are a must for everyday wear.
When I think of a Bristol student, I can’t help but think of puffer jackets.
This perennial staple in most students’ wardrobes will see you through Autumn/Winter in style.
Swap your puffer in Spring/Summer for a long leather coat in black or brown as a throw-
on piece for all social occasions.
Lastly, accessories.
Layered jewellery is a trend not only rampant in Bristol but worldwide.
Layer gold and silver together and mix and max chunky and dainty pieces to enhance that effortlessly grungy look.
Having said all this, anything goes in Bristol.
These are the true core pieces to the typical Bristol student’s wardrobe, but these items are all so versatile and will marry nicely with most of the clothes you already own.
Bristol is a relaxed and non-judgmental place, so it is always best to dress in the way you feel most comfortable.
