Immersive pop-up fashion store to come to Stokes Croft

By Lowie Trevena  Wednesday May 12, 2021

An immersive pop-up shop and attraction in Stokes Croft opens on May 24, bringing more than 40 independent designers to Bristol’s city centre.

Instead of offering being a “standard” indoor marketplace, the store will offer an immersive experience alongside standard trading.

Run by Katie Hobbs and Lauren Hobbs of Wild Thing, Beth Sykes, event performer and owner of the Fantasy Tribe and Tae Notton, owner of Shop Trashy, Wild Thing & Co will be a hub for independent creatives and fashion makers.

The shop, which will be open until Jun 6, will is themed around a “club motel”’ featuring a selfie hub, a reception area, bathroom, bedroom and garden area, each hosting a different photo opportunity and displays of different brands and a large catwalk stretching down the centre of the room for customers to use.

“We’ve all been involved in the festival fashion industry for years so we’re all very passionate about shopping independent,” says co-founder Lauren.

“One night in the Full Moon over a bottle of wine, we came up with the idea of creating a shopping experience like no other, a pop-up shop selling independent brands whilst creating an immersive shopping experience.

“We believe that clothes tell a story, and that people should know where they came from. We want to help make fast and throwaway fashion a thing of the past and celebrate the makers behind the ethical and sustainable companies.”

Brands featuring at the pop-up include locals Burnt Soul, Belissa X Clothing and Twinkled Bristol.

As well as the shop hosting DJs in the late afternoons and evenings, the organisers hope to simultaneously educate shoppers about fast fashion and sustainability through a dedicated “protest wall”.

Located at Liberty House, the store will be open from 11am to 8.30pm most days, with a discounted student shop every Tuesday from 5:30pm to 7.30pm and a Saturday Soiree on the May 29 with live DJs and entertainment.
