Sustainable clothes swap event raises money for Labour Behind the Label
For the past three years, personal stylist, Becky Barnes has been organising fun evenings of sustainability and style with her Swap ’til You Drop clothes swapping events. All money raised goes to Labour Behind the Label, a charity that helps improve the lives of garment workers around the world.
The recent Swap ’til You Drop event took place at the historically beautiful Kings Weston House and saw attendees excitedly swapping high quality pre-loved garms, refreshing their wardrobes, whilst supporting sustainable, slow fashion at this annual fashion event.
“As a personal stylist, I love to help women look and feel fantastic, whilst leaving the lightest footprint possible on our planet,” explains Becky.

“A lot of people don’t realise that swapping clothes is a brilliant eco option. Many come along just for the experience and to refresh their wardrobe.”
With each sold out event, attracting lots of attendees and a huge waiting list, the focus has been on pre-loved womenswear with an aim to include menswear and childrenswear at future events.

“Bristol is the perfect place if you’re interested in slow fashion. There is an abundance of options available to you,” says Becky.
“Not only does it have fabulous charity shops, incredible vintage shops, sustainable designers and brands, it also offers the opportunity to mend or alter your clothes with events such as Make Meet Mend with Bristol Textile Quarter”.
As a big supporter of Labour Behind the Label, Becky is proud to have raised over £5000 for the charity, helping support the invaluable work they do.

As a personal stylist and avid sustainable fashion supporter, Becky recommends an easy option to help you get started in supporting slow fashion.
“Start in your own wardrobe, the pieces you already have are the most sustainable option right now. If you value your clothes and look after them, you’re doing something positive for the planet”.
Following the popularity of the annual Swap ’til You Drop events, Becky has launched the Little Green Wardrobe, a themed, bi-monthly clothes swap event, which will also take place at Kings Weston House.
“I launched the new concept at the recent Swap event!” explains Becky excitedly, “The first one will be in November and tickets are on sale now!
“The theme for this Swap will be winter warmers. Think knitwear, Christmas jumpers, winter coats, jackets and party sparkles, for a glam night out during the festive period”.
Get tickets to the Little Green Wardrobe event on Wednesday, November 13.
