North Bristol surgery creates video to let patients know the practice is safe to visit
One GP practice in north Bristol has taken a different approach to letting patients know that the surgery is safe to attend.
Staff at Monk’s Park Surgery, which serves 8,000 patients in Horfield, Lockleaze and Southmead, have created a TikTok video to reassure patients that doctors and nurses are still there for them.
Inspired by a Yatton surgery who produced a TikTok-style video which was viewed more than 2,800 times, Monk’s Park Surgery chose to make something similar.

“We were inspired by a concern that patients with serious illnesses may not be presenting to primary care due to the coronavirus pandemic,” explains Jenny Godden, community resources lead and practice secretary.
“In our video we aimed to reassure our patients that we’re still there for them and consulting, although we’re doing things a little bit differently to how they’re used to.”
Much like zoos across the country, a friendly competition has emerged between surgeries that are part of the Mendip Vale Medical Group, which Monk’s Park Surgery is part of.
“Together with my daughter, Maisie, who filmed, produced and choreographed, some family friends who edited it, and some very willing colleagues, we produced this short video with our team of GPs, nurses, healthcare assisstants and administration staff.”
With their video now at more than 6,300 views, the team are “absolutely astonished” at the positive response to their fun video.
