Self-care sessions straight from the sofa
University Mental Health Day falls on Thursday, March 7 and to mark the day, Bristol SU are launching Sofa Self-Care in collaboration with Off The Record (OTR) Bristol, a local mental health charity.
This pop-up event will follow the format of the weekly Hubs run by OTR, designed by young people and facilitated by trained staff members. Hubs are relaxed spaces to learn more about mental health and self-care, do something creative or just have a chat.
The sessions are taking place in The Living Room at the university, a newly-built space for relaxation, community building and social activity.
is needed now More than ever

The Living Room has been popular since opening in December, and is home to the new sessions
Of the partnership, OTR health promoter Bronwen Rashad says: “By going out into the community, being where young people are, offering a space to focus on solutions, we can really change the attitude around this topic.
“The Living Room fits so well with all this, a neutral space where students are the ones setting the agenda and pace – it’s everything OTR is about.”
Sofa Self-Care sessions will continue during the summer exam period. A series of workshops, in the style of OTR’s Resilience Labs, will be hosted in the SU Living Room to provide some much-needed support and advice on how to cope with exam stress.
Sofa Self-Care starts on Thursday, March 7, 12pm to 2pm.
