Clifton Village wins gold SW in Bloom award

By Olivia Boston  Monday Oct 5, 2015

Clifton Village has been awarded with a gold pennant from South West in Bloom.

The Royal Horticultural Society judged the area’s many gardens and communal spaces earlier this year to see whether it was worthy of the accolade.

Judges Stevie Rogers and Jane Pagano gave the area high praise: “The pride taken and the horticultural efforts made by the group, local residents, businesses and shops, to enhance the special character of Clifton, was evident throughout the judging tour.

“This is such a distinctive area of Bristol with its characteristic geology, historical buildings and features. Clifton has also managed to preserve its historical architectural heritage in the town’s Victorian squares and buildings with sympathetic renovation and maintenance.”

Clifton Village has won a host of awards for its display of flowers and gardens. In 2014 they not only won the Gold RHS Pennant Award but also won the Outstanding Neighbourhood Award.

Andrew Morgan, chair of Clifton Business Improvement District, said: “We are very proud of Clifton Village for being awarded with a Gold RHS Pennant Award for a second year running and for bringing the community together to celebrate Clifton in Bloom.

“This has provided Bristol with a way to discover the hidden gems and community gardens in Clifton, and encouraged people to join forces to care for their local environment while creating stunning spaces to enjoy during the summer months and beyond.”
