Explore Bristol’s secret gardens
Scroll through any social media platform and there will be stories about the environment and how spending time outdoors can lead a healthier life.
In the heart of Bristol, communities are already ahead of the game. Volunteers lovingly tend to allotments, gardens and secret-green areas, all in preparation for the Get Growing Garden Trail in June.
Now in its eighth year, the trail organised by the Bristol Food Network offers visitors the chance of checking out 32 of the best fruit and vegetable gardens Bristol has to offer free of charge.
is needed now More than ever
Throughout the month of June, everyone is welcome to head to different locations across the city to learn more about gardening and how to grow produce in homes and allotments.
With particular emphasis this year on nature-friendly growing methods, visitors can expect to walk through orchards, stroll through city farms and find their way through a berry maze while volunteers and locals offer tips and insights.

Coordinator of the Get Growing Trail 2019, Abi Moore, says: “Get Growing is a celebration of the joys of growing together, of Bristol’s community growing projects and of the unsung heroes of our hidden green spaces.
“Visitors are invited to explore the sights, learn about the green spaces that surround them and hopefully get inspired to grow at home or with their local community group.”
With plenty for both children and adults to get involved in, events include hands-on experiences for the green-fingered, such as seed-sowing and path-laying, to making pizza and taking part in games.
With self-sufficiency and dedication to a more sustainable lifestyle all while having fun, this year’s Get Growing Garden Trail promises fun and learning for all ages.
