Take a look at beautiful south Bristol gardens

By Lowie Trevena  Thursday Jun 4, 2020

Bedminster’s Secret Gardens is going virtual for 2020.

Undeterred by the coronavirus lockdown, 20 gardeners from south Bristol are opening up their green spaces to the public via video.

Filming tour in their gardens, the videos will be uploaded to Blooming Bedminster’s blog on Saturday, June 6.

Showcasing green space from across Bedminster, Southville and Ashton, the Secret Gardens weekend is a great way to see some “beautiful and imaginative” gardens.

The organisers behind Bedminster’s Secret Gardens have been keeping their Tumblr blog green and healthy throughout lockdown, regularly posting photos of residents’ lovingly tendered to gardens as part of the Blooming Bedminster Garden Diaries.

“Most urban gardens are quite small, and some people find it hard to envision what they can do with their own city gardens,” Matthew Symonds, one of the trail’s organisers, said

“People will be amazed at what they can do to create an urban paradise in a pocket-sized space.”

The videos will be free to access, but the organisers are asking people who visit the virtual gardens to make a donation to either Windmill Hill City Farm and BS3 Community Development, two south Bristol organisations working to make the city greener.
