Construction work starts on new secondary school
After opening in temporary accommodation in September, work is now underway for construction of Trinity Academy’s permanent school buildings.
Once the building works are completed, the school will be permanently located alongside Stoke Park Primary School on Romney Avenue in Lockleaze.
The new school will help to meet increased demand for secondary school places in the city and will have an eventual capacity of 1220 students, with 180 pupils per year group and a sixth form.

The work officially started on November 12, with special guests and the school’s first cohort of students taking part in a ‘breaking the ground’ ceremony.
The event was attended by staff and governors of Trinity Academy, as well councillor Anna Keen, cabinet member for Education and the lord-lieutenant of Bristol, Peaches Golding OBE.
“Demand for school places in Bristol is predicted to vastly increase, so we’re supporting the opening of new schools and expanding existing ones through our Learning City partnership,” said councillor Anna Keen.
“Trinity Academy is a good example of this partnership work in practice. Lockleaze is an area of growth and regeneration with new homes and workspace.”
Trinity Academy is a specialist school for music and the performing arts. The aim is for the new school building to include a concert hall, music practice rooms and performance spaces that can be used by arts organisations, orchestras and ensembles in the region.
The building work is expected to be completed by September 2021.
