New head for Clifton College
Clifton College has appointed Dr Tim Greene as its new head.
Dr Greene steps up from his role as acting head at the 1862 independent boarding and day school in College Road.
Having joined the college in 2006, Greene was acting head since January, after the previous head stepped down.

The school said that Greene was appointed after proving to be a driving force behind the School’s rising academic standards, which resulted in record results last year, during his time as head of academic
Dr Greene was educated at Methodist College Belfast, before going on to read Chemistry at Exeter College, Oxford where he took his PhD.
At Oxford he also became a senior research fellow in Inorganic Chemistry at Jesus College. In 2001 he joined the chemistry department at Exeter University, moving into secondary education in 2005.
“I am absolutely delighted to be taking up the role of head of college,” Dr Greene said.
“Clifton has never been stronger. We have just had our best ever results last summer and our facilities for sport and our co-curricular provision are outstanding. It is a real privilege to lead this College into the next phase of its development.”
Chairman of Council at Clifton College, Richard Morgan, said: “The council’s criteria were a first-class leader with a successful and relevant track record, proven academic ability and foresight combined with emotional intelligence, excellent communication skills and dynamism.
“In the face of strong competition, the result was an overwhelming vote in favour of Dr Greene. We are delighted that he has accepted the role and believe that pupils and staff at Clifton College can look forward to the next chapter in its history with both confidence and excitement.”
