Blind Date: Hayden and Kirsty
Control engineer Hayden West, 29, and marine engineer Kirsty Munns, 24, sat down for sweet treats at Mrs Potts Chocolate House on Park Street, thanks to huggg. Did hearts melt?
Hayden:
Have you ever been on a blind date before?
No, never! How would anybody even organise one of those anymore? If you get set up with someone you’ve never met, it’s either on Tinder or your mate who shows you a picture – haha!
What made you want to go on a blind date?
Aside from the obvious reasons? I like trying new things and it was a good chance to push myself out of my comfort zone.
What were your first thoughts when you saw your date?
She looked equally as lost as me, glancing around for each other!
What did you talk about?
Quite a lot! Work, football, travelling, communities and cultural cohesion in Africa
What was the atmosphere of the cafe and food like?
Food was nice, although being a sweet-toothed cafe I have to admit it’s a bit of a one trick pony!
Any moments when you wished you were somewhere else?
No, conversation flowed easily, we had a lot to talk about and I think we got on well.
What would you say is the best characteristic of your date?
She’s the sort of girl you’d want to take home to your mum!
What do you think your date made of you?
That’s a question! Hmm… I might be bit alternative/underground for her liking!
Is there anything you would change?
No – all good.
Did you go somewhere else afterwards?
We had both made plans to meet friends just in case each other was a weirdo – great minds!
Were there any sparks of potential?
I don’t think we vibed like that, but I think that was mutual.
Will you meet again?
See previous question!
Kirsty
is needed now More than ever
Have you ever been on a blind date before?
No – never!
What made you want to go on a blind date?
I love watching First Dates on TV and when I saw the Blind Date section in the magazine I couldn’t find any reason not to put myself forward. I’m quite happy-go-lucky and thought, “what have I got to lose”?
What were your first thoughts when you saw your date?
I wasn’t sure if Hayden was my date or not as I had no idea what he looked like! When he asked me if my name was Kirsty I was very relieved.
What did you talk about?
We talked about our jobs and found out that we both went to Bristol University. We also talked a lot about holidays and adventures that we’d been on and we found out that we’d both been to Africa recently.
What was the atmosphere of the restaurant and food like?
The staff at Mrs Potts Chocolate House were very attentive and lovely to speak to. I had a white chocolate and raspberry brownie covered in more melted white chocolate. My sweet tooth was well looked after!
Any moments when you wished you were somewhere else?
I only wished our date was outside as the weather was lovely!
What would you say is the best characteristic of your date?
Hayden was very polite and held a really good conversation. We also had a very similar sense of humour so I was laughing throughout most of the date.
What do you think your date made of you?
Hayden probably thought I was a chocaholic because of how much I was enjoying the food, ha! I hope I came across well.
Is there anything you would change about the date?
Maybe some kind of activity included in the date would have been good – to work off all that chocolate!
Did you go somewhere else after your meal?
We wandered up Park Street together and Hayden helped me pick out a card for a friend moving into a new home.
Were there any sparks of potential?
As lovely as Hayden was, I don’t think we were very compatible. I do think we would make good friends though!
Will you meet again?
We may bump into each other and say “hi” but I don’t think we would arrange to meet again.
