Blind Date: Johnny and Aaron
Johnny Leon, a composer and singing teacher, met Aaron Brck, an au pair, for cocktails and nibbles at Little Victories in Wapping Wharf. How did the evening go?
Johnny
Have you ever been on a blind date before?
No, this was totally new for me! It sounded fun.
What made you want to go on a blind date?
There aren’t as many ‘avenues’ for LGBTQ+ people to meet each other, so I thought I’d try this instead.
What were your first thoughts when you saw your date?
Excellent shirt choice! He seemed shy, but sweet.
What did you talk about?
Everything from living in Bristol, to Queen to spooky small towns in Germany.
What was the atmosphere of Little Victories like?
Very relaxed. The service and staff were honestly exceptional. We both felt really comfortable there.
Any moments when you wished you were somewhere else?
Besides wishing I was visiting the suggested spooky abandoned hotel in Aaron’s hometown, no!
What would you say is the best characteristic of your date?
Conversation was pretty easy, and I found it really lovely to just have such nice, interesting conversation with someone new.
What do you think your date made of you?
Probably that I chat a lot! I chat a lot when a bit nervous!
Is there anything you would change about the evening?
I should have tried the green olives on offer, never had green olives before. I missed a good opportunity to try them. (That wasn’t even good, shame on me).
Did you go somewhere else after your meal?
We walked through town to our adjacent bus stops. Ending up spotting a silent disco happening nearby, but maybe some other time!
Were there any sparks of potential?
Romantically for me, not so much. And honestly, that’s a relief as I’m much better at keeping friends!
Will you meet again?
I’d really enjoy meeting up with Aaron again.
Aaron
is needed now More than ever
Have you ever been on a blind date before?
No, this was the first time.
What made you want to go on a blind date?
I thought that would be cool thing to try out.
What were your first thoughts when you saw your date?
I immediately knew they are a decent person, which made me very happy!
What did you talk about?
Oh, so many things! School, Germany, music, films, we exchanged experiences about growing up very differently and travelling.
What was the atmosphere of Little Victories like?
Very lovely, they took very good care of us!
Any moments when you wished you were somewhere else?
Not at all!
What would you say is the best characteristic of your date?
It was very easy to have a conversation with Johnny. Talking to them never got boring which I really appreciate in a person.
What do you think your date made of you?
I’m more of a listener than a talker so I just hope they didn’t mind my awkwardness too much.
Is there anything you would change about the evening?
Only being less nervous beforehand.
Did you go somewhere else after your meal?
Unfortunately not, we both had to catch our buses.
Were there any sparks of potential?
I think we will stay in touch and definitely made a new friend!
Will you meet again?
Who knows!
