Blind date: Livvie and Rhys
This month, actor Livvie, 24, and health science researcher Rhys, 26, went on a date to Sholay Indian Kitchen, organised by DateMakers:
Livvie
Have you been on a blind date before?
Nope, unless Tinder mishaps count?
What did you think of this experience as a first date?
The food was delicious but we shared a table with two other couples which was a bit weird. I probably wouldn’t choose to go to a restaurant for a first date.
What were your first thoughts when you saw your date?
The place was tiny and made of glass so I saw Rhys before he came through the door. He seemed nervous. Really good posture though.
What did you talk about?
How he didn’t arrive in a helicopter. Mostly theatre, films, Bristol and told each other some brilliant jokes.
What was the atmosphere of the date like?
Good, it didn’t feel too awkward. I think the rum and cokes helped.
Any moments when you wished you were somewhere else?
Not really, I was pretty hungry.
What would you say is the best characteristic of your date?
Rhys has a dark sense of humour which I like. Never seen The Young Ones though…
What do you think your date made of you?
Well I didn’t really let him get a word in edge-ways so hopefully he thought I was enthusiastic rather than rude…
Is there anything you would change about the evening?
Maybe go somewhere a little more original? But I can’t complain, it was a nice evening.
Did you go somewhere else after?
Yeah, we went for a drink.
Were there any sparks of potential…?
We got on but no spark.
Will you meet again?
No plans to, although we’re friends on Facebook now so I expect we’ll keep in touch.
is needed now More than ever
Rhys
Have you been on a blind date before?
Not a date like this, when all I knew was her name.
What did you think of this experience as a first date?
Very good – the food and company were both delightful.
What were your first thoughts when you saw your date?
That she looked pretty, and I was hungry for some curry.
What did you talk about?
General chit chat about what we do, curry, religion, politics, music, terrible jokes, snakes. The usual.
What was the atmosphere of the date like?
Pretty relaxed. I didn’t say too many weird jokes so there wasn’t too much awkwardness.
Any moments you wished you were somewhere else?
Not in that sense, but we discussed what it would be like to have a first date on a helicopter, and both wished we were on a helicopter.
What would you say is the best characteristic of your date?
She had a good sense of humour (and some terrible jokes).
What do you think your date made of you?
Probably that I look overly serious, and my moustache needed a trim.
Is there anything you would change about the evening?
If it was on a helicopter, that would have been better.
Did you go somewhere else after?
We went to two pubs after, the Louisiana and the Ostrich.
Were there any sparks of potential?
I think she’s a very interesting and funny woman but I don’t think there were any sparks.
Will you meet again?
As friends maybe, sometime.
