is needed now More than ever
Louise:
Have you ever been on a blind date before?
No – and it was literally blind at the start, as there was a power cut after five minutes!
What did you think about a pottery lesson as a first date?
It was great fun! I’m not sure it’s the best activity for a first date though, as I was too busy concentrating on making my pot to get to know my date. Sian was an excellent host and did a great job guiding us through the highs and lows of clay-forming.
What were your first thoughts when you saw your date?
He was smiley and got the bottle of Prosecco open straight away, so a good first impression!
What did you talk about?
A bit of the usual small talk but we were busy concentrating on our masterpieces.
What was the atmosphere of the date like?
Quite relaxed considering the unusual situation. It didn’t really feel like a date, more like we were taking an introductory class together so there wasn’t any pressure.
Any moments when you wished you were somewhere else?
No, I was enjoying the pottery and the company.
What would you say is the best characteristic of your date?
He was up for a laugh and didn’t take himself or his pottery too seriously.
What do you think your date made of you?
Hopefully that I was good company: at least, he claimed to admire my pottery skills.
Is there anything you would have changed about the date?
It was an enjoyable activity with friendly people so no complaints. The only thing I would add is a cheeky pint beforehand to get to know each other a bit before we became engrossed in clay.
Were there any sparks of potential…?
I don’t think so date-wise but I like to think there were sparks of potential for me in the world of pottery…
Will you meet again?
I doubt it, unless we run into each other when we collect our creations.
Pedro:
Have you ever been on a blind date before?
No, I haven’t.
What did you think about a pottery lesson as a first date?
It was quite easy and relaxed.
What were your first thoughts when you saw your date?
She seemed very friendly and she laughed a lot. She seemed really into pottery.
What did you talk about?
Mainly about the activity we were doing. Occupation and classic stuff when you meet someone you don’t know for the first time.
What was the atmosphere of the date like?
Very relaxed.
Any moments when you wished you were somewhere else?
Not at all. I was quite comfortable.
What would you say is the best characteristic of your date?
She is funny and easy going. She was very easy to talk to – an outgoing person.
What do you think your date made of you?
She probably thought I am funny. Maybe she was laughing at me rather than with me, although my pot was much better than hers, so the joke is on her.
Is there anything you would change about the evening?
No, it was a good new experience.
Were there any sparks of potential…?
I don’t think so.
Will you meet again?
Unfortunately, she is not my type.
