Blind Date: Michael and Hana

By Bristol24/7  Tuesday Nov 3, 2015

We sent Michael and Hana on a blind date to Three Brothers, a romantically-lit boat moored on the harbourside – but was the evening smooth sailing?

Name and occupation?
“Michael, account Manager.”
“Hana, traveller and jewellery maker.”

Have you ever been on a blind date before?
Michael: “No.”
Hana: “No, it was my first time.”

What made you want to go on this blind date?
Michael: “Free food and to meet someone I may never have met.”
Hana: “Life is too short to take too seriously, why not!”

What were your first thoughts when you saw your date?
Michael: “Yes! It’s not a man! But on a serious note, she looked awesome and was really smiley.”
Hana: “Happily surprised! Like a gent he’d arrived early and made me feel completely at ease.”

What did you talk about?
Michael: “Everything from travel, sports, hula hooping, Bristol, Wales (where we’re both from) and how everyone from Wales is just the best. I think we covered all known topics.”
Hana: “Everything, there wasn’t a quiet moment. We had a lot in common and shared a lot of the same interests.”

What was the atmosphere like?
Michael: “Started off a little nervous. Then we were talking like we’d known each other for ages.”
Hana: “There was a great atmosphere, very relaxed. The staff at Three Brothers also played a big part in this, they were good fun, helpful and generally an asset to the place!”

Any moments when you wished you were somewhere else?
Michael: “No.”
Hana: “No, it was a fun evening.”

What would you say is the best characteristic of your date?
Michael: “Her outlook on life.”
Hana: “Michael is a real gent, has so many interests and a great sense of humour! I laughed a lot!”

What do you think your date made of you?
Michael: “Probably the best guy she’s ever met, restored her faith in men and is a possible future ex-husband.”
Hana: “Maybe that I can chat the head off of a coin?! I don’t know, I think we both found it really easy to get along with each other.”

Is there anything you would change about the evening?
Michael: “Nothing. Well, maybe my capacity to eat and drink more.”
Hana: “Maybe that I wouldn’t go out with my friends the night before. Luckily we were both a little fragile – nothing a glass of wine didn’t cure!”

Did you go somewhere else after your meal?
Michael: “Yes, we went for a few drinks.”
Hana: “Yes, we went in search of an Irish coffee but ended up in Small Bar with some Picklebacks.”

Were there any sparks of potential?
Michael: “I thought so.”
Hana: “Maybe.”

Will you meet again?
Michael: “Yes.”
Hana: “We found out we live ridiculously close so we are going to meet at the pub for a cheeky mid week bev.”

With enormous thanks to Three Brothers Burgers, who sponsored this month’s date.
