Blind date: Vic and Justyna
Vic, 34, and Justyna, 29, enjoyed doughnuts and coffee at Pinkmans on Park Street thanks to huggg. Did sparks fly during their date?
Justyna:
Have you ever been on a blind date before?
No, this was my first time.
What made you want to go on a blind date?
Curiosity – what it might be like when you only know the name of the person.
What were your first thoughts when you saw your date?
Here she is!
What did you talk about?
About a lot of things: Our interests, work, upcoming journeys, plans, food.
What was the atmosphere of Pinkmans like?
Really nice, the only issue for me was that it was a little too loud – but everything else was great!
Any moments when you wished you were somewhere else?
No.
What are the best things about Vic?
Easy going and open.
Is there anything you would change?
No.
Did you go somewhere else after your meal?
No.
Were there any sparks of potential?
The potential to have a nice friend.
Will you meet again?
We exchanged numbers and will probably see each other again at a party or grab a pint.
Vic
is needed now More than ever
Have you ever been on a blind date before?
No.
What made you want to go on a blind date?
I had a random “why not?” moment and thought it might be an opportunity meet someone new from outside my bubble.
What were your first thoughts when you saw your date?
Cool hair and a friendly smile.
What did you talk about?
Our tastes in music, dancing, wine and where we’ve been out in Bristol. Singing in choirs, getting a work/life balance, fostering dogs. She’s from Kraków so I tried to impress with my hazy memories of the dragon statue there from an Interrail trip 15 years ago.
What was the atmosphere of Pinkmans like?
The decor was suitably hip, with minimalist Scandi-style fittings and trailing houseplants. It was Saturday, and pretty busy with people doing brunch. The staff were friendly and discreet considering I’d unnecessarily alerted them to the whole blind date scenario when I couldn’t spot my date.
Any moments when you wished you were somewhere else?
Maybe when I tried to impersonate a flamenco dancer, but none other than that.
What would you say is the best characteristic of your date?
Friendly and really easy to talk to. She’s clearly kind and warm-hearted.
What do you think your date made of you?
Well, she smiled a lot, so that’s got to be a good sign, right?
Is there anything you would change?
If it had been later in the day and more appropriate to order a negroni.
Did you go somewhere else after your meal?
She courteously walked me to my bike.
Were there any sparks of potential?
We swapped numbers.
Will you meet again?
Hopefully. I offered to take her on a BS5 pub crawl.
