Bristol’s independent gift stores launch directory

By Lowie Trevena  Thursday Nov 5, 2020

Bristol’s independent gift stores have come together to encourage shoppers to buy local in the run up to Christmas.

Shop Bristol is a directory of 23 lifestyle and present stores from across the city. Spearheaded by the owner of Prior in Old Market, Beck, the aim is to make sure money is given to smaller businesses during the festive season.

“We are a collection of independent Bristol businesses that offer a range of beautiful and unique Christmas gifts for everyone,” Beck says.

“If you shop online in the local stores listed below, you are not only supporting the local designers and people who own and run each business, but also putting money back into Bristol’s economy and communities. Your support keeps us going.”

The website links to each of the 23 stores involved, so people can spend their money online, but while still supporting local businesses.

As well as Old Market’s Prior, which sells eco-conscious homewares, jewellery and accessories, the shop’s neighbours Good Store Studio, Old Market Plants and Pretty Wild are all taking part.

North Street’s Casper, Zara’s Chocolates, Mon Pote and Rhubarb Jumble are part of the venture, as are Paper Plane, Ottowin, Fox + Feather and IOTA on Gloucester Road.

Many more stores are featured on the directory, from Wapping Wharf’s Fig1 to Bishopton’s Kiln Workshop.

The new website will be supported by a poster campaign from Monday, November 16.
