Christmas at Bristol Shopping Quarter

By Bristol24/7  Tuesday Nov 10, 2015

A visit to Bristol Shopping Quarter is a must this Christmas

Broadmead, St James Arcade, Cabot Circus, Quakers Friars and The Galleries boast the biggest and best selection of shops in the South West including designer brands, high street fashion and a great selection of independent stores, brimming with special gifts for all.

The Christmas lights are now on, illuminating Bristol Shopping Quarter and creating a festive atmosphere for shoppers to enjoy, and the ever-popular German Christmas Market has arrived; its quaint, wooden chalet-style stalls full of unique gift ideas such as original homemade crafts and authentic German food and drink.

Not to be missed are The Hannover beer garden, located at The Podium, where visitors can relax with a drink while listening to festive German music and popular Christmas tunes, and the Moose Bar at the Cabot Circus end of Broadmead, which features a singing moose head!

The Local Christmas Market, offering handmade gifts with a Bristol twist and Fairtrade products, will run from Friday 4th December.

The German Christmas Market will be open until Tuesday 22nd December while the Local Market will welcome shoppers until Wednesday 23rd December.

Santa and his elves have opened their Grotto on the ground floor of The Galleries and are looking forward to welcoming all good boys and girls. As well as meeting Santa and receiving a gift, there will be the opportunity for visitors to have a digital photo taken to record their special visit. The Grotto will be open at weekends until Sunday 22nd November and then every day until Christmas Eve. For opening times and prices visit www.galleriesbristol.co.uk.

St James Arcade, home to several new independent shops, will be busy too over the festive season. There will be a late night shopping event to mark the switching on of their Christmas lights on Thursday 12th November and Harry Potter’s Sorting Ceremony on Saturday 5th December when visitors will be able to try on the Hogwarts Sorting Hat and pose for photos.

Getting to Bristol Shopping Quarter couldn’t be easier. Affordable parking is located at The Galleries and Cabot Circus and Bristol City Centre is easily accessible by car, bus and park and ride. Bristol Shopmobility, on the Ground Floor of Cabot Circus car park, provides daily or long term hire of scooters and wheelchairs, making shopping in Bristol Shopping Quarter accessible for all (users of this service may take advantage of up to five hours free parking in the Cabot Circus car park when they hire equipment).

Many of the 500 stores will be offering late night shopping over the Christmas period but please check with your favourites before you visit.
