St Nicholas Market is the traditional Market Hub of Bristol. Commonly known as St Nicks, the market is situated in the old heart of Bristol on Corn Street.

Visitors to the market can browse from the myriad of small stalls offering a unique array of treasures. Anything and everything is on offer and the casual visitor can stroll among stalls offering original artwork and photography, handcrafted jewellery, vintage clothing, sweets, books and records from yesteryear, bespoke hats, beautiful rocks and fossils – items you simply wouldn’t find anywhere else in Bristol.

The permanent market buildings are divided into different sections. The large covered section is home to the largest collection of independent retailers in Bristol and has three parts; the Glass Arcade, the Covered Market and the Exchange, each offering a slightly different experience to visitors.

The Glass Arcade bustles with life and activity at lunch hour as shoppers, office workers and tourists mingle to sample some of the best takeaway and sit down food in the centre. The aroma of freshly cooked spices mixes with the scent of cut flowers as visitors browse for their lunch beneath the beautiful glass domed roof of the arcade. The Exchange Hall is a fascinating mix of quirky and highly individual stalls such as Dr. Burnorium’s Hot Sauce Emporium and Beast, which sit alongside much loved Bristol institutions like Royce Rolls Café- a real emporium of delights. The Covered Market is the browsing heart of St Nicks and visitors can experience the delights of Treasure Island Sweets, get lost in one the fascinating bookstalls, or just watch the world go by from Zak’s Café

The buildings and streets nearby also host a range of other markets including a weekly farmers’ market on Wednesdays The Nails Market on Corn Street on Fridays and Saturdays; which includes stalls full of vintage clothes, gifts, artwork, photography, and the Friday food market on Wine Street

This Christmas St Nicks market will be opening every day including Sundays, right up to Christmas Eve. The market and surrounding area is highly recommended for a visit if you are looking for that special something for friends, family, or even if you just want to treat yourself this Christmas.
