Go around the world in Bristol Shopping Quarter this summer

The Broadmead BID team invite shoppers to travel around the world with them this summer, without leaving Broadmead, The Galleries or Cabot Circus!

Throughout the summer holidays families will be able to take part in a Flags of the World trail, seeking out 50 flags that will be displayed in shops and other locations around Bristol Shopping Quarter and noting the names of each country in special passports that can be collected from the information desk in Cabot Circus, Specsavers in Merchant Street, Bakers Dolphin in The Arcade and Julian Charles in The Galleries. They can also be downloaded via the website.

Anyone identifying at least 25 flags correctly will be invited to enter a draw for the chance to win a fantastic prize including LEGO, Trunki luggage, and travel games.

Every Tuesday will see free world-themed activities taking place in Broadmead, starting with a celebration of all things Australian on July 25. Expect a surf simulator, boomerang decorating, face painting and more. Look forward to Hawaiian themed activities on August 1 followed by events relating to Mexico, Kenya, Japan and Jamaica taking us through to the start of term.

The Galleries will play host to Captain Hook and Mr Smee from July 20-22. There will be three pirate shows each day plus free activities including a game of Tin Can Alley, face painting, hat making and balloon modelling.

The centre will also host a series of English country garden themed events every Thursday from July 27 to August 24. Young shoppers will have great fun painting sun catchers and garden gnomes, decorating pots, making wind catcher mobiles and bird feeders. All craft activities are free and they’ll be able to take their work home.

Cabot Circus is set to serve up a feast with the return of Summer Food Fest, taking place throughout August when many of Cabot Circus’ restaurants will join forks-es to feature mouth-watering discounts and delectable samples in the centre.

It kicks off on August 4 with a specially created pop-up Menu Bar, positioned in the central space outside House of Fraser, where participating restaurants will showcase their offering by giving away free samples and hosting food presentations for shoppers every hour.

Following a successful inaugural event in 2016, the tour of Broadmead returns from July 19 to August 8. The static bike challenge will see retailers and representatives from eight different good causes try to replicate a stage of The Tour of Britain each day, without ever leaving Bristol Shopping Quarter. The BID team hope to exceed the £3,700 raised last year.
