Mother’s Day gift list

By Helen Martin  Monday Mar 9, 2015

It’s Mother’s Day on Sunday, so we have a gift list for your lovely mums. Of course it’s not all about the presents, for example (partners), may we suggest helping the kids make a snazzy card and prepare a delicious breakfast in bed on Sunday morning? The Sunday supplements, warm croissants, fresh fruit, coffee and most crucially, a lie in, can only be received positively. If you live away from home however, and you’re an adult with bank cards, this gift list might be useful. Whatever you do this Sunday, your mum probably thinks you’re absolutely fantastic already, so just wishing your mum a happy Mother’s Day will make her smile.

Flowers: This is incredibly obvious, but flowers from their kids make mums very happy. They light up rooms with floral power and occasion. Ivory Flowers on North Street in Southville have a ‘Mummy Darling’ bouquet that is just beautiful and The Flower Shop on Gloucester Road do national deliveries. www.ivoryflowers.co.uk and www.theflowershopbristol.com

Make-up bag: These African fabric make-up bags are made in a ‘sunny Bristol studio’ and are screen printed with gold detail. Each bag is made to order by Butchi and Gosmos, so get ordering now. www.etsy.com

Necklace: A piece for everyday, to make everyday special (too much?). This is a simple, textured necklace made by Bristol-based designers Forest and Fawn. Pretty, but sturdy enough to withstand little grabby hands. www.forestandfawn.co.uk

Floral cup and saucer: There are very few mums who dislike a nice cup of tea. Give your marvelous mum a special vessel for her tea, with this Bristol Blue floral breakfast cup and saucer. Decorated with an original 1960s Enoch Wedgewood floral print by Stokes Croft China’s resident artists. www.prscshop.co.uk

Chocolates: Yes, we have gone for another classic gift – but does a Pink Champagne truffle handmade with fresh cream champagne and dipped in white chocolate sound like a bad gift? These are handmade in Bristol’s oldest functioning chocolatiers. guilbertschocolates.co.uk
