Shop of the Week: Mon Pote

By Isaac Lomax  Monday Jul 15, 2019

Mon Pote, an independent lifestyle shop that opened on North Street in 2016, sells beautiful homewares, stationary and gifts.

Loosely translated from French as ‘my mate’, Mon Pote lives up to its name, offering a friendly experience for shoppers.

Selling online and in its compact Bedminster shop, co-founder Anna Clements feels very lucky to be doing what she does. Mother to two children that are ten and five, the shop’s location is ideal as home and work are only ten minutes apart.

“I don’t really think of it as work because I enjoy it far more than a ‘normal’ job,” Anna told Bristol24/7 on a recent afternoon.

However, Anna is in a constant battle over where to store any future stock.

When Anna bought the building that is now Mon Pote, she didn’t realise that there really isn’t much to see beyond what you can when walking through the door.

“A bit of an oversight on my part,” Anna laughed. “But it just seemed the time to buy.”

Mon Pote started online but it wasn’t long before Anna realised that she missed the interaction with customers, and being able to share new ideas and products with them.”

With a wide range of products for both adults and children, the shop’s products are sourced from a range of European brands.

Specialising in beautiful products for children, pieces for sale include books, decor, toys, stationary, and accessories.

Shoppers will also find a variety of homewares, jewellery, plants, lighting and gifts, as well as homewares and gifts to last, and a friendly face to chat to while buying them.
