Southville Deli opens zero waste store
Located opposite the original Southville Deli, 253 North Street has been transformed into the city’s newest zero waste shop.
Part of the Southville Deli offering in Bedminster, the new section of the store is plastic free and encourages shoppers to bring their own containers for goods.
Having opened at the end of August, the new unit is an extension of Southville Deli’s current offerings and sells cleaning products, teas, spices and more.

“There’s been a lot of focus on our zero waste sections at both our stores,” explained the staff at the independent wholefoods store. “Since its inception in 2009, our North Street zero waste section has outgrown its space and we are delighted to be relocating it to its own store.”
Offering a more socially distanced shopping experience, the new store offers new products as well as “old favourites”.
The herbs and spices take centre stage in the new store
The centre of the store is home to more than 20 spices and herbs and half of one wall is dedicated to tea and coffee. The deli is currently selling more than 15 tea varieties from nearby Gillards of Bath and ten types of coffee beans.
Zero Green, Bristol’s first waste-free store and also located on North Street, welcome the store to the “zero waste shop family”, saying: “Brilliant news! Great that the area has more options to shop zero waste and cut down plastic usage.”
The new zero waste store also stocks grains, beans, seeds, oats, nuts and dried fruit, as well as cleaning products, shampoo, soap, toilet roll and body wash.
